What Are Quality Backlinks?

by admin on July 3, 2010

There’s a lot of  discussion going on whether building backlinks manually brings better results than using link building software.

One important thing about the above sentence is that is doesn’t make any sense. Why?

Well, mainly because every possible manual backlink building method can be automated. Secondly – search engines cannot tell who built the backlinks – you or software. Then why would it matter which approach you use?

It doesn’t. It’s all about efficiency, being smarter than your competition and how much you value your time.

How important is the quality of your backlinks?

I see this question posted on various marketing forums every day. And each time there is someone telling people that automated tools are bad, they will get you banned, you are breaking other site’s TOS, blah blah blah.

What I find really annoying about the above scenario is that if you ask them for “proper” link building advice, they tell you to “build quality websites, write qaulity articles and with time people will start linking back to your site”. They’ll also tell you to write a few good articles and submit them to ezinearticles. What a bunch of lonely crooks. They’ve don’t have any successful websites to their name and they never will.

What is it that makes people think that 1 ezine article is going to give better results than 10k xrumer profile links? How about 5, 10, 50 articles? Have any of them tested their ideas before offering advice to unsuspecting newbies?

Meh, I’ve decided to do a little test. Over the next 2-4 months I’ll be trying to rank for a certain keyword, and when I do – I’ll show you exactly what I did, without leaving out a single detail.

And then when I see another one of those threads pop up on any of the IM forums – I’ll link them straight to this post and tell them to shut the hell up. :)

To be continued…

This post is pretty awesome, bay37 (that’s what I’ll call you). I can’t wait to hear your results. Love how you break it down.

I tried automated software in the past and didn’t get the results it promised. It was a directory submission tool and out of the about 500 directories supported by the software I managed to get into around 20. I am pretty sure that I would have gotten similar results if I had done this job manually. Probably it depends on the quality of the directories the software was submitting to and how often they get updated.
I am looking forward to see the results of your experiment. Good luck!

bay37, please add to my previous postas i forgot to say the following:
I love to automate things, as long as the results are good for me. In the above mentioned exercise the use of an automatic tool was a big timesaver.

Hi.

What is your opinion of Paul and Agelea type backlinks, Do they work?

(I went over to wickedfire having read it here, I noticed people advertising this type of service. On Warrior Forum, its no longer allowed, for whatever reason. I was thinking perhaps it because they don’t work, but I have no idea.)

Hey Jim,

Yes they do work. They are, essentially, profile links on steroids (depending on your list). As we all know, profile links work (when used in hundreds/thousands), so it only makes sense to say that “Angela” type links work as well.

Most backlink building services have been banished from Warrior Forum. Do not ask why – I don’t want to go into stupid arguments with people who have nothing better to do than spend all day on forums trying to impose their views/ideas upon others. Most of them are broke idiots or just idiots with day jobs and a lot of free time after work. Not all, but most. Take most of the “seo advice” there with a pinch of salt.

A few people now have asked me to post more about my SEO strategies… so that’s what I’ll do later tonight.

Hi Mantas

Look forward to your case study. Also what is your recommendation for automated backlinking? I will be very interested to find out. Maybe you could email me if you do not want to post here. I am just reading your e-book (Niche Site Formula) and thoroughly enjoying it.

Thanks
Wayne Cooper
